13. Prepare your personal computer for inserting model

Before you can insert any Excel model to Valuatum database, you have to make some preparations for your computer. These preparations are needed only once.

1. Install Java Runtime Environment (JRE) to your computer

Note: If you have already used Valuatum's ValuModels, you can move to the section 2 (Set Valuatum files needed to run the update process).

Alternative A (recommended for Internet Explorer users)
If you have not yet used ValuModels, the most practical way to install Java Runtime Environment (JRE) to your computer is to open ValuModels for the first time. This will install JRE automatically:

  1. Go to ValuViews pages (customer side).
  2. Choose ValuModels section and click the 'Start ValuModels' link.
(If JRE already exists in your computer, ValuModels is getting downloaded and you can directly continue to phase 2. If not, then JRE will be automatically downloaded and installed.)

Please notice that the automatic installation of JRE (Alternative A) works only in Internet Explorer.

Alternative B
You can download and install Java Runtime Environment (JRE) from Sun Microsystems' pages: www.java.com.

2. Set Valuatum files needed to run the update process
  1. Download the valuatum.zip file.
  2. Extract the zip file to the root of C:\. Make sure you have 'Use folder names' option selected (see picture).

Notice that if you put this folder elsewhere (if you exract the zip file to somewhere else than C:), then the update macro in Excel does not work. So please use the given folder structure, or contact Valuatum and we will advice you how to change the folder path in Excel macro.
