Analysis Step-By-Step Guide
1. Registration
The first thing to do on the way in becoming a freelance
analyst is filling the registration form and uploading
your CV. After you have registrated, you will be forwarded
to the analyst main page which will be the starting point
of your future analyst career.
2. Choosing a company (company reservation)
Next you have to choose a company on which to do analysis.
This is done using the company reservation system accessible
from the analyst main page. Here are some
advice in choosing companies.
It is possible for an analyst to analyse more than one
company at a time, but further companies can be reserved
only when the analysis on the first company reservation
is ready and in the database (of course you can also cancel
your reservation and reserve another company). When you
have reserved a company, you will be provided with the
Excel model needed for doing the analysis.
3. Analysis in Excel
Step-by-step guide helps you in preparing your model
and estimates
When you have downloaded the Excel model, you are ready
to start doing the analysis. All the instructions needed
for filling the Excel model can be found in our detailed
Freelance Analysis
Step-By-Step Guide.
4. Update analysis to database
After you have filled the Excel-model with your estimates,
you can put it to the database over the internet with
only one click.
At the first time you need to do a few simple preparations
with your computer. If you are interested in them already
at this phase, find more info at Step-by-step
Guide (pages 13-16).
5. Comment analysis
After you have inputted the figures to the database,
you should also provide it with
comments. This is at least as important as preparing
the numbers carefully, since your numbers are not very
valuable if there is no argumentation about why they are
as they are.
6. Get feedback by informing us that you are ready
After your analysis is ready (and commented) you should
inform Valuatum about it by making a feedback requestin
Analyst section. After your feedback request you will
get feedback on your analysis in the form of points and
comments. Thereby you can also compare your points and
your analysis to other analysts. In this phase you can
improve your analysis (and also your points) according
to the feedback and thereafter always ask re-rating.
Continuous analysis (updating numbers and comments)
After the first update and the preparations involved
with it, you do not have to spend much time anymore with
the model itself: it is very fast (couple of minutes)
to update the historical numbers with each quarter and
it also goes quickly to update the future estimates when
needed.
Most of the time thereafter goes to the most essential
things: Assessing the company´s capabilities, competitive
situation, future demand, changes in environment and how
all these things together shape the future financial performance
of the company. And you should not only think these things
by yourself but put these thoughts to company forum as
arguments for your analysis.
